Being a member of the Marching Pride of Lawrence Township is an exciting opportunity as well as a privilege. The MPLT is the combined Marching Band for Lawrence North and Lawrence Central High Schools.
The MPLT is comprised of over 250 students and performs competitively across the state of Indiana. The MPLT also performs at football games at LN and LC, music festivals, parades, ceremonies, and community events. The combined excellence of the two award-winning programs is evident, and seen in the commitment to music and performing excellence.
The Marching Band participates in Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) and Bands of America (BOA) competitions, starting in September and running through November. Students start preparing for these competitions in the summer by learning the new season's show.
Students repeatedly say their Marching Band experience was the highlight of their music and high school careers and MPLT friends will last a lifetime. Marching Band is about working together to achieve a high level of excellence. Students learn challenging music, teamwork and gain leadership skills in addition to the personal pride earned through hard work. Teamwork and leadership are stressed and participants work as a team at all times. Therefore, it is important that each and every student give their best at every rehearsal. This means preparing music, memorization, movement and choreography, equipment work (color guard) and working hard during rehearsals.
This is the perfect blend of music, athletics, social activities, and friendship. Students must be enrolled in a band class to participate with the award winning Marching Pride of Lawrence Township.
